OpenVZ w/ Commercial modules

Hi,

I came across this in the wiki,
http://wiki.freepbx.org/display/FCM/OpenVZ+with+FreePBX+System
and it references that fail2ban needs to be loaded. Is there a commercial module that requires it? We’ve been using ossec instead of fail2ban.

Thanks,
Carlos.

Yes for the System Admin module.

The Intrusion Detection portion of the SysAdmin module hooks into Fail2Ban.

So if the SysAdmin is not used, it’s not needed/required? I’m mostly looking at the EPM module for most systems.

Thanks,
Carlos.

The SysAdmin module is used to license the PBX to our licensing servers and is a requirement for all commercial modules, I haven’t personally tried to install it on a system without Fail2ban installed so I’m not sure how that would work, remember the modules are officially supported on the FreePBX Distro and PIAF version 2.0.6 and above, any thing else is not officially supported or tested. The basic SysAdmin is a free module so you should be able to give it a try.

It will install without fail2ban RPM but that feature of System Admin wont work without Fail2ban RPM

I’ll give it a shot and see what happens…

Thanks for the info.
