New extension

Hi all,

I have taken over the IT for a company which is running FreePBX

My problem is that I am trying to add a new extension to the system, but everytime I try to dial that extension internaly or externally, it goes straight to a message that says the number is not available at the time.

If I look on the user panel which shows me all the extensions in the organization, I also do not see the new one I created there.

I have checked the new one against existing ones and all the information seems fine, but clearly I am missing something else?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.


Have you Apply New Configuration after creating the extension? That is the red bar at the top of the screen. The process is "Create Extension (selecting SIP, IAX2 or Zap), putting in extensions number and secret (password) then submitting. When you are finished creating extensions, then you Apply New Configuration.

Is the telephone instrument registered?
