I would like to create a directory entry for a department but it needs to be routed to an existing extension in that department. i.e. caller can search directory for Human Resources and will transfer to HR managers extension. Can I create a directory entry with the same extension or do I need to create a ring group?

Not sure if you’re still looking for a solution, but the way I just accomplished this was to:
Applications:Directory:Edit (your directory)
Click +
Select Custom
Fill in custom entry (name of dept / user you want 2nd listing for)
Fill in custom dial string
click submit
This works whereas if you try to select an extension that there’s already a directory listing for it doesn’t.
