My company is moving to a FreePBX system hopefully by this weekend. We will have 5-6 phone numbers (DID’s) and will need to be able to select which number we will be dialing from. In other words, we will need to be able to chose which number will appear on the person who is being called’s Caller ID.
I heard that you could setup a dialing code with a *? For example *11 would get you phone number xxx-xxx-1234, while *12 would get xxx-xxx-1235?
we only have 2 outbound numbers that we care about… not 5 or 6… so our approach might not make sense for your situation. Our SNOM phones have multiple account capabilities. I setup line one on each phone for 1 of our outgoing numbers and line 2 for the second outgoing number. … so for the 6 people that need to call on the 2 different numbers, I have 2 extensions assigned to each user… It could ramp up to 5 or 6 numbers per user… since I can assign each line on the SNOM phone a specific extension, it makes it easy for them when they need to pick an outgoing line.
Thanks for the help, but I tried that but it will only change the text, not the phone number. I need it to display our different DID’s, or phone numbers as well as caller ID.
Yes,I am in the US. All the phone numbers we have will be listed; I have not actually tested it but I thought that the CID field would only take text. If we put in a number, will the title (which are listed) show up above it like regular calls?
For example would the caller ID look like this on the phone we are calling:
LISTED TEXT HERE (COMPANY NAME)
XXX-XXX-XXXX(PHONE NUMBER)
