Moving VM from VirtualBox to Hyper-V

That is likely all you need to do. Make a snaphot on your live system, run the command there, and then V2V it.

Type 2 virtualization just needs to die, right along with Faxing.

The proper way to do it is to use Hyper-V Server (This is not Windows Server + Hyper-V role). It sounds like this is what your team did, so don’t complain. Better methods are better. Of note you should not have a native GUI on any type 1 hypervisor (VMWare, Hyper-V, KVM, XenServer). They are all designed to be managed from a remote tool.
