Moving hard drive with distro installed to another computer, would it work?

Hi!

If I moved an hard drive with a FreePBX distro installed to another computer, would it work?

I tried moving a hard drive with a Linux distro from one computer to another many years ago and it failed because of a different hard drive naming scheme if I recall correctly. Should I expect to have the same problem with the FreePBX distro?

Thank you and have a nice day!

I’ve had mixed results with Linux. the network adapters used to be called eth0, eth1, etc. Now they’re some randomly generated number in some distros.

I think the FreePBX deployment is tied to the MAC addresses of the network adapters and a few other items.

Make a backup and give it a try!

Yikes, you are right… Assuming the Linux aspects of this would work, this would break the deployment logic/copy protection of the commercial modules…

I only have one commercial module but I don’t want it to break… I think those can be transferred but only a limited number of times…

Thank you and have a nice day!

Twice actually.

Machine 1 - Initial install
Machine 2 - 1st Zend reset used
