Hello colleagues, I wanted to mask the director’s line (FreePBX 13) 277278305 as the assistant’s line 277278300, but it does not work. I have a SIP trunk 2772783xx, I edited the CID, deleted the CalerID in out. route…
For calls inside FreePBX ok, for calls outside FreePBX no.
Does anyone have an idea? Thank you Peter
- Do you have “Override Extension” checked YES in your Outbound Route ?
- And “Route CID” filled in as well ?
- What happens when the assistant dials out ie. what number is displayed on your mobile ?
Hi, thanks for your reply. Line 277278305 has an outgoing route. YES and in CID 222220695. 277278305 will be displayed on mobile.

These days, providers will need you to make special arrangements before you present a number which they didn’t allocate to you. If they allow it at all, you will probably have to prove it is a number that you control.
Both numbers are owned by me and work independently as lines on FreePbx. DDI and MSN from the old Alcatel-Lucent PBX.
Are these SIP trunks from the same provider or POTS lines going into a SIP gateway? Are they part of a DID block assigned to you?
yes, it comes from the same provider on a SIP trunk from the asterisk control panel. Lines independently work side by side and leave through the same SIP trunk.
It should not be difficult to find out what is going wrong. Almost certainly, it is one of:
- Asterisk is selecting the wrong caller ID (configuration problem). Check the log for the last value set in CALLERID(num) before dialing on the trunk.
- The CID is not transmitted on the trunk in the format the provider requires. They may want the number in From, P-Asserted-Identity, P-Preferred-Identity, Diversion, or something special. Also, they may be fussy about the format of the number itself. For example, it may have to be 277278300, 420277278300, 00420277278300, or +420277278300.
- You may have to configure the provider portal (or open a ticket with them) to indicate that the PBX is sending its own caller ID.
If you can’t easily find the trouble, at the Asterisk command prompt, type
pjsip set logger on
make a call showing the wrong caller ID, paste the Asterisk log for the call at pastebin.com and post the link here.
