Mailbox Only Extension

Any Ideas on what the best way to create a mailbox only extension. I’ve tried several ways, but all seem to be a kludge.

I think the cleanest way to create a mailbox extension would be to create a custom extension and point the dial command to the mailbox. Question is, what would be the dial command (if this is even possible).

Bill,

If you create an extension in FreePBX with no hardware, a dummy extension, then when you dial that extension it will be diverted straight to the voice mail box for that extension.

If you want a way to transfer a call straight to an existing extension’s voicemail box, you can precede the number with a *; ie. ##*201.

Yes…That’s the way I’ve done it. I was wondering if anyone had done it any other way.
