Lines are busy on outward dialing - incoming fine

Hi All:

Last night we set up a FreePbx Aterisk server for the Telephone Museum of Prince Edward Island. A first we had problems getting it to dial out - we would dial a number, and it would sit there, eventually timing out and saying, "“All lines are busy…” After setting up our incoming line, this problem went away.

But it returned about an hour later, seemingly without cause.

Now, people can still dial in, but I can’t dial out.

Does anyone have a list of possible causes I can check out? It is driving me more foolish than I normally am.

Dave

It would be much easier to help you if you provided information on what versions of FreePBX and Asterisk you are using. Was this a Distro install or built by hand? What type of trunks are you using? Console output of a call failing would be useful too?

I am using ver. 2.8.1.5 Free PBX, and Asterisk 1.4.21.2 The distro was PBX IN A Flash 1.7.5.7.

A dump of the log follows:

Dave:

PBX in a Flash 1.x has been deprecated, a new system install should be using PIAF 2.0.6.3.

Not sure if you are planning to incorporate your old phones into the mix, if so, I suggest you go with newer software. PIAF 2.x Purple running Asterisk 1.8 and FreePBX 2.9 will give you a decent platform for getting your rotary phones to work by dialing via voice recognition (with some tinkering obviously).

I am in Nova Scotia. I have the museum on my todo list.

KSUs and Strowger demo switches in the museum are going to be incorporated. Currently, like I said inbound calls are working on C*NET 1-651-0001 - only the outward calls are a problem.

Unless we can get this version working, we won’t be updating - we will switch to another distribution. Trouble is to be reloaded the server has to be sent back to Ontario.

We think it may be a router problem, and are still working towards that angle.

Dave

The key issue is the IAX trunk is timing out. You don’t mention anything about a trunk to another Asterisk box.
