Knowing when a call bounces back to reception

Hi,

I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to have the following scenario:

  1. External call comes in from PSTN and is answered by reception
  2. Reception forwards call internally to another xtn
  3. No answer at xtn after XX seconds so bounce call back to reception but with some way of informing reception
    that the call is the same call that was just transferred (ie so that reception doesn’t answer with the normal greeting
    but instead can say ‘sorry it doesn’t appear that fred/mary/whoever is not available’

At the moment, reception doesn’t know if the call they are answering is a new call or a call already xfer’d to an internal
extension that didn’t answer.

We are running Asterisk 1.2.14 with FreePBX 2.2.0rc3 and Snom phones (320 and 360).

Any ideas appreciated.

To start we’d recommend that you upgrade freepbx to a current release instead of using a pre-release canadate (you are also many sub versions out of date on asterisk but that is secondary).

There have been hundreds if not thousands of bug fixes and enhancements between 2.2.0rc3 and the latest release 2.3.1.1 or even the latest in the 2.2 branch which is 2.2.3.

I create a 2nd queue called Reverted calls" and then route all unanswered calls to this queue in general settings
