And apparently there are no grown-ups watching the house get wrecked.
It is re-assuring to note that as of yet there are very few (one? two?) persons who disagree with the decision to silence @jfinstrom for the clearly ad hominem attacks in violation of the Code of Conduct as screenshotted earlier in this topic.
As for slow mode it is rarely used â less than a handful of times so far in these forums â and is built-in to standard Discourse installations by default AFAIK.
Ya so why are you not subject to slow mode if everyone else is. Itâs unfair they you can post over and over there but we can respond. If a thread is slow mode it should be for everyone. Common sense here.
And I am sure everyone else has given up on you. Last time you banned him tons of users supported him and you ignored all that support so why would anyone try again. You have proven you do not give a dang about what anyone post here and set in destroying this project.
Itâs really scary how close your behavior is to Matt Mullenweg from WordPress and now the courts seem set to take away his own project and put a non profit in charge of Wordpress. We are all watching that case closely as it will set a roadmap on how open source projects can be taken away from their founders or stewards when they become monopolistic and retaliatory just like what is happening here.
And further, how would one in the community flag what they feel is inappropriate behavior of a moderator?
Not everyone is willing to speak up, but there are plenty more that are disappointed with this happening again, myself included. While you continue to gaslight the community that this project, and this forum, is anywhere but completely off the rails.
Agreed. The ad hominem attacks by @jfinstrom need to stop. As posted in the screenshot, the posts by @jfinstrom were clearly in violation of the Code of Conduct last updated in September 2024.
The fact that a false narrative was peddled was certainly part of the issue, no doubt about it. For example, the attempted allegation of a post hoc fallacy of forum Code of Conduct changes being made after the suspension is demonstrably false as the FAQ/CoC was last changed in September 2024 as you should be able to see in the sidebar or edit history via the pencil icon.
The forum Code of Conduct was violated. That is the extent of the scope of the situation here w/r/t to the silencing of @jfinstrom for making repeated ad hominem attacks.
Perhaps it wasnât clear what I meant when I said I was disappointed. Iâm disappointed in your handling of this forum, and your treatment of longstanding, valuable, and important members of the project and the community.
He knew exactly what you meant. He twisted it like everything to fit his narrative. That is all he does now days.
2 months ago a #freejames movement started with a huge amount of support and @penguinpbx ignored all the support for James and now this time he doesnât see all the support so he twist that into nobody supports James.
So then your position is that what @jfinstrom posted was not ad hominem attacks and this sort of language should be encouraged here on the forums, or no ?
The only thing âtwistedâ here is the attempt by one or two users to change the plain face meaning of ad hominem attacks as it is clear to most reasonable observers that ad hominem attacks by @jfinstrom are what actually happened yesterday in the posts by @jfinstrom that resulted in the silencing of @jfinstrom due to the subsequent moderation that was done with due diligence and good faith in accordance with the Code of Conduct policy section to âBe Agreeable, Even When You Disagreeâ.
This was not an arbitrary silencing for no reason and @jfinstrom contributed many fine posts in January which were welcome and appreciated as they were in accordance with the Code of Conduct last updated in September 2024.
@penguinpbx More moderation done âin good faithâ like this?
I need to go get out my twister board for tonightâs game night. All this twisting is just crazy coming from you.
You hid James post that asked Mike White and Nenad Corbic to weigh in. He then responded with look how fast the âleaderâ hid yet another post. None of that violated your new found COC enforcement fun. I have never met someone in a position of power with such thin skin in my life before.
For anyone who would like to contact Mike White - VP of Open Source or Nenad Corbic CTO please DM me and I will provide their email and phone numbers. I was going to post them here but figure that will get blocked so please DM me and happy to provide the contact info for to voice your concerns.
I think you would have better luck discouraging these types of posts by adequately addressing the valid concerns that he and the rest of the community are feeling. Should his language be encouraged, maybe not, but tolerated, certainly. Twisting the rule book to throw bans around and silence those with valid concerns isnât helping.
@jfinstrom is literally the only person silenced right now AFAIK and it was because of the ad hominem attacks by @jfinstrom in violation of the Code of Conduct. The project welcomes debate and discussion in the forums â indeed, thrives on it â but not ad hominem attacks as these only do harm to the members of the community who are, first and foremost, seeking the exchange of technical information regarding FreePBX.
And which threads have you slow rolled ?, which threads have been shredded to nonsensical pieces ?, how many posts have you deleted since November 5th. ? Why do you feel that such behavior has improved your respect?
This is literally what many of us are having a problem with , you will notice that it is just YOU that have instigated all this,
Again, the OP is regarding the ad hominem attacks by @jfinstrom and nobody else at this time is being silenced due to violating the Code of Conduct AFAIK. That said, posts and topics and users have all been moderated in similar manners over the years, including silencing and suspensions, both temporary and permanent. Slow rolling is fairly new tho. Sometimes new features take time to tune in.
Long live the king.
But he has no clothes !!
Wow that is a pretty strong stance to take. Go find a single post by a community manager or project lead before you that silenced, hide or banned a community user for Ad Hominem attack. @lgaetz @tm1000 @plindheimer were the only project leaders or community managers prior to you.
