Is it wise to update CentOS packages

Hello,

I’ve read in the forum recently that updating Freepbx using Module Admin only updates the Modules and not the CentOS version along with it. That makes sense.
What I’m not sure about is if I should be running CentOS updates as well.Should I only update linux when there’s a core or framework update in Freepbx? Is it wise to update the kernel or any CentOS packages on a Freepbx machine?

I am using the distro downloaded from Freepbx.

I help manage two different sites at the moment. Their Freepbx versions are:

  • 12.0.76.4
  • 13.0.163

Kind regards,
