IP PBX - is my architecture correct?

Hi everyone,

Like to check whether I grasp the right architecture for this one.

Outbound:

employee’s soft phone/ip phone -> calls -> network -> freepbx (asterisk) -> t.38 gateway (audiocodes) -> pri line (my office) -> pstn -> receives -> customer’s physical phone

employee A’s soft phone/ip phone -> calls -> network -> freepbx (asterisk) -> internet modem -> internet service provider -> receives -> employee B’s soft phone/ip phone

note: the reason there is t.38 gateway as my ISDN PRI line will connect to the T.38 gateway (audiocodes). Then the gateway will link between my fax server and ip pbx.

Inbound:

employee B’s soft phone/ip phone -> calls -> internet service provider -> internet modem -> freepbx (asterisk) -> network -> receives -> employee A’s soft phone

customer’s physical phone -> calls -> pstn -> pri line (my office) -> T.38 gateway -> freepbx (asterisk) -> network -> receives -> employee’s soft phone/ip phone.

Is this concept correct? Sorry as I can’t attached image here for clearer picture.

Any help? Thanks.

Noted and thanks :slight_smile: So for inbound and outbound via PRI, it is okay to use T.38 gateway right? Is audiocodes T.38 gateway hardware recommended?

A little adjustment to your extension to extension scenario, other than that your concept is correct.

Internal Call - calls between extensions registered on the same Asterisk system:

employee B’s soft phone/ip phone -> calls -> freepbx (asterisk) -> network -> receives -> employee A’s soft phone

External Calls - between extension and PSTN

employee’s soft phone/ip phone -> calls -> network -> freepbx (asterisk) -> t.38 gateway (audiocodes) -> pri line (my office) -> pstn -> receives -> customer’s physical phone

Incoming Calls - between PSTN and extension

customer’s physical phone -> calls -> pstn -> pri line (my office) -> T.38 gateway -> freepbx (asterisk) -> network -> receives -> employee’s soft phone/ip phone.
