Internal / External Calling

I’m looking for the proper syntax for a custom trunk. Basically, I have 400 DID’s and would like the system to check to see if the DID exists and if it does route it internally, if not, send it as an external call.

Ultimately, if a user calls a user that is external I do not want it to go out to the PTSN and back in tying up 2 channels and creating expenses.

This was never put into FreePBX for regulatory reasons in the past as lots of countries have laws against this type of routing.

I can’t think why there would be legislation against such short cut routing; it would appear to be a purely local issue. Are you confusing bans on forwarding incoming calls back onto the PSTN?

Two possible solutions come to mind, use the [from-did-direct] context if the DID’s are ‘common blocks’, add a loopback trunk for such routes
