Install problems ubuntu

root@stratatech-ubuntu:/usr/src# cd /usr/src/freepbx-2.2
root@stratatech-ubuntu:/usr/src/freepbx-2.2# mysqladmin create asterisk
mysqladmin: connect to server at ‘localhost’ failed
error: ‘Access denied for user ‘root’@‘localhost’ (using password: NO)’

how can i get past this part???

im using this guide http://www.freepbx.org/support/documentation/installation/install-process-for-ubuntu-6-06

it says

“Now, to configure the databases for freePBX:”

“oot@rob-laptop:/usr/src/freepbx# mysqladmin create asterisk”

dont know why its saying password error or something im confused…

This line:
error: ‘Access denied for user ‘root’@‘localhost’ (using password: NO)’

is the problem. Your user “root” does not have permission to log in to MySQL with no password.

Try this instead:
mysqladmin -u root -p(your password here) create asterisk

If you don’t have a root MySQL password, try -u (local user) -p (that local user’s password)

When in doubt, try just using the MySQL application:
$ mysql -u root -p

It will prompt you for a password. If you put the right one in, it will drop you to a “mysql>” prompt and you can issue your commands directly.

Please, do not use version 2.2 of FreePBX. Use the latest that you can download here http://mirror.freepbx.org/freepbx-2.5.1.tar.gz

Thank you firestorm_v1.
