[I18n] Request to enable Lao (lo) language on Weblate

Hello FreePBX Community and Admins,

I am Bone NI, a Lao localization specialist. I am very interested in contributing to the FreePBX project by providing a full Lao (lo) translation.

I have a strong track record of bringing major software platforms to 100% Lao localization, including:

  • Odoo 18 & 19 (Over 110,000 strings completed).
  • WordPress & Joomla (Team Coordinator).
  • Fedora Linux & Linux Mint.

Currently, the Lao (lo) language is not enabled on https://weblate.freepbx.org/. Could an administrator please enable the Lao language for the project and grant my account the necessary permissions?

Weblate Username: boneni
My Portfolio: Bone NI @ Odoo Translations

I am ready to start working immediately to support Lao users.

Best regards,
Bone NI

Howdy! Thank you for volunteering and joining the forums. Planning to process this request soon as we touch up the weblate integration ahead of the related webinar next week. :cowboy_hat_face:

Howdy C. Maj! Thank you so much for the warm welcome and for considering my request. I’m thrilled to hear that the Weblate integration is being updated. I am ready to start contributing to the Lao translation as soon as it’s enabled. Looking forward to seeing the progress and the webinar next week! Best regards, Bone NI

Hi C. Maj (@penguinpbx),

Thank you for the update! I can see the Lao language listed on Weblate now. However, all components currently show a padlock icon :locked: and are restricted :ghost:, so I am unable to begin the translation.

Could you please grant my account ‘boneni-2025’ the necessary permissions (Translator/Reviewer) so I can start clearing these 0% bars before the webinar?

Ready to roll! Best regards, Bone NI

Yes, that add went pretty well, thank you for noticing!

The language addition of a new PO file was well-handled by our bot in the test repo: Added translation using Weblate (Lao) · FreePBX/freepbx-gh-test@540d5a2 · GitHub

Went ahead and added you in the Translate group - but username was slightly different (?). Are you ok starting with that test repo as a sandbox ?

Also have you signed the CLA in our Weblate instance ?

Hi C. Maj (@penguinpbx),

As promised, I have completed the Lao (lo) translation for the sandbox repo (100% translated and approved). It took less than 03 minutes!

I am now ready to take on the production modules. Could you please unlock the main FreePBX components for the Lao language so I can begin the full localization?

Best regards,
Bone NI

Excellent!

Minor issue - would you please accept the Sangoma Contributor License Agreement in GitHub using our CLA assistant ?

Once accepted, then your work should be able to merge in to our test repo. (You should have already accepted the CLA in Weblate – apologies for the duplicate work, we are making adjustments on this.)

Hi C. Maj, I have successfully authorized the Sangoma OSS-CLA via GitHub. Everything is now set on my end. Please proceed with the merge/unlocking of the Lao (lo) translation components. Ready to reach 100%! Best regards, Bone NI

I saw the CLA earlier today and performed the merge. Congratulations - your translations are now included in our test module! As we open up more modules, you should start seeing access to more strings to translate in weblate.

Apologies for the delay – we are testing some updates on our staging weblate and planning to move those to production next week, at which time more modules should be available.
