I have been using FreePBX for years. I have installed a fresh Debian 12 VM and installed 17 with the script. It all goes fine as far as I can tell.
But then what? Is there another doc on conf files that need to be edited or some additional steps I am missing? There is nothing open on port 80 or 443. There is no /var/www. I am very confused here and all the documentation I can find does not point to anything beyond run the script.
There’s no substantial difference on a newly installed 17 system from any previous version. Check the install log for errors, something must have come unglued if you don’t get a GUI on port 80.
Thanks for the quick reply. I stepped through the whole log, the only error I see is at the bottom. Which I find odd. 192.168.1.2 is my local gateway, why is the install trying to open port 80 on it?
You can simply rerun the script. I’ve done about 2 dozen installs and in general it works. On Ubuntu I have to manually add a few gpg keys but on the latest Debian it has been plug and play
This is the 3rd VM I have tried this on (I destroyed and retried). Let me try it again and see, I will just rerun the script. It is possible my network is blocking something it’s trying to reach but I would have thought it showed in the log. But clearly this is new so. Thanks.
Look at the error screenshot you posted; it’s trying to access 192.168.1.2/webfilter/blockpage . Your gateway is filtering outgoing traffic and redirecting DNS.
I did not notice the word “blockpage” in the URL before. It’s not DNS it’s redirecting it’s trying to redirect to it’s blockpage for the webfilter. Thanks for pointing that out.
I did get the install to run and everything is good now. The lack of error at the console threw me and I assumed it had run all the way. I was indeed blocking some repo it was reaching out to. Thanks again.
