It happened again today on 2 remote phones. I setup a test phone on my desk and responsive firewall worked ok with it, so I assume the issue to be more with the end users internet/router??
I changed their two extensions to use the FreePBX VPN and they are now staying connected after public IP changes.
I’m getting this problem again, despite changing the registration times.
It is unrealistic to expect FreePBX users to setup a dynamicDNS client for each user who uses a phone within the organization, this is not a problem that VoIP customers get when they’re using 8x8 or another managed service and it doesn’t seem to be a standard feature of a “smart” firewall…
