How do I get UK tones

How do I get UK tones

Greetings,

Does anyone know how I would get UK tones on internal calls:
UK dial tone
UK ringing tones
UK engaged/busy tone

I have searched the web and all I can find is this: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+indications+UK

I have also found a file on our FreePBX called “indications.conf” and it seems to have all the setting there and is set to “country=uk”, but we seem to always get US or Continental tones.

But how do I set this, so we get UK tones on internal calls on our system?

Regards - Leigh

The settings on FreePBX are not for the phone. All of the tones are generated locally. It’s not a matter of overriding.

Yes, the phone itself. It should have localization settings.

Hi there,

Thanks for that, so what you are saying the phone setting will override the FreePBX settings for the tones - interesting.

What would be nice is if the settings on the FreePBX server would override the phone settings and issued the tones for the country that you wanted, but looks as thou this is not possible.

Thanks again for you kind help.

Hi there,

Mostly Siemens S450ip Gigaset, you say “phones localization is configured in the phone config” do you mean the actual phone or the phone config in FreePBX/Asterisk ?

Many thanks

What type of phones are you using?

If you are using IP phones localization is configured in the phone config.

For Zap/DAHDI extensions you configure in the chan_dahdi.conf file.
