How do I edit what the CID looks like?

Hi all,

When a call comes through to one of our Cisco 7970’s we get the message:

Is there any way to change how FreePBX displays the caller ID? I’ve had a look around the web config but can’t see an obvious way of doing it… We basically want it to just say “From John, Smith” without the ID of the extension or perhaps just the extension number and not the IP of the server - this will only confuse our users!

Any help would be much appreciated (yes I’m a newbie!)

Which phone firmware version are you using? It looks like a problem which was resolved in 8.2.1 of december 2006, and there have been newer version since.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head with that one tadpole.

We are using an old firmware which seemed to be the only one we could get working properly. However, it looks like we’ll have to go back to the drawing board and try again!
