There shouldn’t be a problem with direct SIP calling, but as we’ve already established, there’s no way in SIP to do what you want to do.
If only we had something like wireshark and a way to capture the packets that were being transmitted so we could reverse engineer something that might work. What a shame that we don’t have complete control over all of the aspects of the system…
