wouldn’t be nice to have the g729 codec straight through in the repository, instead of using the alternatives and recompile them?
i know that it might be an issue with the licencing.
What alternatives and compiling are you speaking of?
g.729 is a licensed product, to my knowledge the Digium g.729 pack, Sangoma’s bundled transcoder and the OpenVox transcoder are the only ways to legally obtain. g.729 licenses.
The folks that developed the open source, academic use g.729 license specifically state this on the site.
I am not going to list the website or even give a hint. If someone is too stupid to google, find the site and follow the instructions we are not going to assist them in possibly violating intellectual property laws.
