Fwconsole not found

Hey all,

Just acquired a new customer with an older freepbx installation. I decided to upgrade them today using the guide located here. The upgrade seemed to go well, but when logging in I get the following error.

** CRITICAL SYSTEM ERROR **

Unable to generate MOTD.
The /usr/sbin/fwconsole file is not accessible

You are likely to experience significant system issues.

I found fwconsole in /usr/local/sbin and I am able to run fwconsole. I also ran the post upgrade script and I still have the same error. I can get to asterisk with the normal asterisk -rvv, but the web console says “unable to connect to asterisk”. I have backups so I can revert back, but if there is a simple fix I would rather try that first.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oops my mistake. It is not in /usr/local/sbin, that was a symlink. It is located in /var/lib/asterisk/bin/fwconsole. Should I just creat a symlink at /usr/sbin for fwconsole?

Try running either (can’t remember which):

amportal chown
amportal a chown

and then see if fwconsole will work. Otherwise creating the symlink manually should fix.
