So interesting comment about the installer as the installer states it’s open source but that constricts that TOU here that says you can modify it. So they also needs clarification from Sangoma as it’s contradicting.
Lastly it doesn’t matter where you live and the country you’re in. By using their forums you are greeting to Toronto Ontario for all venue and choice of law so your local laws have no bearing here. Now their ability to collect a judgement from Canada to the country you live in could be hard but most all these trade agreements between countries allow for enforcement of judgement also.
Are you saying that all my contributions and anything I have personal copyright claim to for commits from years and years ago makes it so I am not affiliated with the FreePBX Project. That is a pretty concerning statement to make in regards to any contributor to the Project.
I think the important words here @tonyclewis are “not currently” in relation to Sangoma and FreePBX. I don’t think anyone who’s been here for any amount of time dismisses your contributions to the project as that would be rather laughable.
I would agree with that as it relates to the first part Sangoma but when the FreePBX project is thrown in there it comes across as saying I am not affiliated with the project. The project is all of us who are part of the community. That is the project.
Aren’t you like, a shareholder and stuff?
Yes but anyone can be a shareholder in a public company. At one point the schmooze team had about 15% ownership of Sangoma. It’s much less now days.
Are you going to continue to ignore us users who are asking for clarification on this and pretend it’s not an issue?
Has he done anything that would make you think he would act otherwise? He has yet to respond to thread where he banned @jfinstrom without legitimate cause.
Reviewing the TOU, FAQ, and COC are some of my earliest projects as the Open Source Solutions Advocate – that 2 out of 3 of those (related) things were updated with significant new content in the past 60 days or so does not mean that there aren’t more changes coming, soon. Definitely agree with y’all that it would be nice to get it done in a few days after being in place for so many years.
Looping back on this topic again, OP, please consider changing the title of this post to something that does not potentially misrepresent FreePBX in the eyes of new users in particular. There are many non-native English speakers that visit the forums – some might benefit from clarification that this is your opinion about the TOU and not the official TOU.
The topic doesn’t misrepresent anything. The FreePBX ToU got updated a month ago.
I tried to respond but @penguinpbx has decided to hide my response with no reason given on why. Guess laying out the cold hard facts and truth are not accepted here anymore.
The subject is accurate and I will not be changing it. It clearly states the TOU has been updated which it has been. We need to draw attention to this “fining” language until it has been removed. I am happy to revisit the subject when this thread is no longer relevant and the new OSSA has advocated for what’s best for the community and fixed this.
Is there a dedicated section on the forum for “quibbles and vendettas”?
You should have received an automated message from @tango about your post being hidden by community flags as “inappropriate: the community feels it is offensive, abusive, to be hateful or a violation of our community guidelines” - like this:
Well it gives no info on what was in violation and we both know it was you who flagged it.
Just an observation about @penguinpbx, I wonder why it take him three weeks to honor his comitment?
Please consider looking for the “inappropriate” parts of your removed post by diff’ing it against your post that made it through shortly thereafter, and then the ad hominem portions which are in violation of the community guidelines may shine through more clearly.
Big Thanksgiving!
Again, who flagged it ? Was it you or not?
If you see a problem, flag it.

How about you stand up here and actually state what was wrong with my post and give real evidence instead of hiding behind obscure rules and no direction given. This behavior is chasing all those away who actually built this community.
