Freepbx outbound calls show up anonymous, for Findme Follow me and Misc Destinations. and they are causing the call to fail. Nothing has been changed, and I have already opened a ticket with the carrier and they are suggesting its coming up as anonymous before it hits them
By default, both of these methods attempt to send the original caller’s number as caller ID, which most providers will not accept.
For Follow Me, set Change External CID Configuration to Fixed CID Value (or as desired) and set Fixed CID Value to your main company number (or another number your provider will accept).
For Misc Destinations, the solution depends on how they are being used.
According to my pcap, the pbx is showing the call as anonymous before it even reaches the PBX.
Also, my itsp isn’t failing the calls because of caller ID.
Does the extension have a CallerID set? I always steered clear of Misc Destinations for forwarding calls externally for the same issue with Caller ID. Would like to read how others solve that with Misc Destinations.
I’d most often use a Virtual extension with Caller ID and FM/FM set.
Extensions have the CID set, but with Misc Destinations, they usually pass the CID of the trunk and not the originating CID. But even that, it says Anonymous.
The “Anonymous” is going out from the pbx, or is what you see on the phone you are dialing ?
Run sngrep -c while you reproduce the issue and see the INVITE going to your provider, see how the call is leaving the pbx.
I will do this and let you know.
For the record I’m able to reproduce this on a second freePBX v15. So this is leaving me to believe it’s maybe a module issue?
Because if I do a miscellaneous destination, this is exactly how it shows up. But I will do the command just to verify
