We would like to be able to have remote phone extensions using the Yealink T46U phones, registering to the external address of the PBX. Can anyone provide me with any guidance on how to set this up? I tried registering to the external address using HTTP, HTTPS and did not have any luck.
I mean you register just like any other phone. Log into Yealink phone web gui, put in your WAN IP:UDP port number, extension, password…
Or TCP or TLS if your going those routes…
You need to have ports forwarded to your pbx if its behind a firewall. You need to whitelist remote phones wan IP in pbx firewall to grab config the first time and register.
You don’t ‘REGISTER’ using http or https , SIP will respond to UDP, TCP TLS or WWS on the ports you are listening on. Any firewall involved needs to transparently pass in both directions such connections to the PBX (and any ongoing SDP sessions)
