First 2-3 seconds of outbound message cut off

When I call into my FreePBX system from an outside line (over a cellphone) to test my voicemail, the first few seconds of my outgoing message are cut off.

Is this a configuration setting in asterisk inbound routing? Or is it an extension config? Seems more like a system level problem.

  • System is running on CentOS release 5.6 (Final) 64 bit virtual machine running on ESX

  • FreePBX 2.9.0.7 built from source
  • 4CPU
  • 2048MB RAM

How is your phone # connected to your PBX? SIP Trunk? Media Gateway? Card?

Have you checked your CDR and the CDR of your provider to see how long the calls are lasting?

Without a lot more detail, I’d guess that the problem was your SIP Trunk provider, but that’s assuming you’re using SIP trunking.
