Firmware update is downgraded when phone reboots

Hello,
I’m kind of new to FreePBX but getting around quite well.

Our phones (Yealink T42G’s) are running firmware that’s a few years old. The newer versions have some features I would like to use. I can download the firmware update to my phone, but when it reboots it grabs the firmware associated in Endpoint Manager.

How can I test my new phone with the new firmware without having it rollback? I don’t want to copy the new firmware file to update all the other phones until I test it out.

Duplicate the EPM template for testing, set the new firmware in this new template, then use this template for provisioning your test phone.
