External IP Address?

You can’t eliminate one of these as they do different things. One updates the FQDN and the is an Asterisk config option. Furthermore, not all users have access to the System Admin Pro setting.

I requested that a alternate DDNS address be available

You can set up as many dynamic DNS services as you want but since Asterisk can only be configured with a single host name, I don’t know how it would help if the service you are using is not working.

Right. If it could also be configured for an alternate then if not successful on primary, secondary could be checked. When relying on an outside service and having no control for address resolution, it is good to have a backup.

The Asterisk config is the critical item needing backup source. Although, I think there are multiple ways to ascertain the outside IP address. DDNS domain name service is not the only way. Am I correct?
