External destination on a ring group works only with Confirm Calls

I’ve just about finished my freepbx setup having moved from Trixbox.

The box is sitting behind a router but all the appropriate sip and rtp ports are being forwarded.

I can receive calls to extensions from the trunk to the internal sip clients. I can place outgoing calls and all is well.

I have a ring group that has only 1 entry in the extension list: an external 10-digit number (my cell).

When an incoming call from the trunk hits the ring group, it starts ringing on my cell, as expected. When Confirm Calls in enabled on the ring group, I hear the recorded message saying press 1 to take the call. I press 1, and the call is connected, and all is well.

If I have the confirm call setting for the ring group disabled, then the call connects, but neither party can hear the other.

I thought perhaps this had something to do with port forwarding, but for the life of me, I don’t know why it was working on the trixbox sitting right next to it with the same forwarding settings.

Any suggestions? Thanks kindly!

Jordan.

Well, silly mistake on my part. In fact it was RTP port forwarding problems. I was forwarding the first and last port, not the range. Whoops.
