Extensions deny calls

Dear all,

i just installed asterisk 1.4.18 with freepbx 2.4.0.0

i am facing the following provblem
i have created 2 extensio numbers succesfully
and clients (x-lite 3.0) connect fine and get registered
but when i try to call fom one extension to the other calls get rejected.
i can only call feature options with *xx
i would appriciate any input

Have you tried a debug to see what is happening?

asterisk -vvvvvvvvvvr

i am new at this should i be expecting to see something on creen while the call is in place
or
shoud i check somee specific log
