Error symlink from modules failed

Hello!
I have a Messages under FreePBX System Status.

Error symlink from modules failed
Ignore this
retrieve_conf failed to sym link the /etc/asterisk/sip.conf file from modules
Added 47 minutes ago
(retrieve_conf.SYMLINK)

what is this?

It usually means that you have a /etc/asterisk/sip.conf file of your own and so FreePBX will not overwrite it with /var/www/html/admin/modules/core/etc/sip.conf which is what it ships and what it normally does. You are advised to use the ‘custom’ include versions for all you custom sip.conf needs and then remove that file so that future upgrades that may included required changes to sip.conf are effective.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem.
I did amportal stop
erased the /etc/asterisk/sip,conf file and started amportal again.
Same problem accures.
Any suggestions?

permission issues?

I have also seen some issues with this.
The amportal.conf files will let you move the web files to a new location. When I changed this to a new location and then ran the install_amp, fpbx did install the web files in the correct place however the links in /etc/asterisk were pointing to the default location (as you have noted above). I redid the links and then it worked OK.
I seem to remember that there were also some links over in the /usr/lib/asterisk area that needed to be changed.

the problem is that they are symlinks. If you reinstall the links are already there and it won’t re-link it if it detects there is a valid link. However, I recently made a change in retrieve_conf which has not hit the online system yet. The change not only checks if the file is symlinked it also checks if the symlink is pointing to a valid file. So were you to make the change as described, it would now redo the link because it would delete the ‘orphaned’ symlinked file.

Hi,

I was wondering if that problem can cause all the sub-menus to disappear?
When I look under the “Admin->Setup” menu, i see only 2 sub-menus: “FreePBX System Status” and “Module Admin”.

Any suggestions of how i can fix that?

P.S., all the configuration i was entering before is working and running in the background… I just can’t see/edit anything anymore…

Thanks,
Avi
