Digium TE122 chanelization

I am new to free pbx but I am knowledgeable with telephony, VoIP and linux/
Free PBX version 2.801
Astesisk version 1.70
Built with Asterisk Now

I have the TE122 installed and is working properly for my DID’s.

I have a chanelized T1 where chan 1-12 are incomming DID only and chan 13-24 are FXS for outgoing.

Using the free Pbx gui under dahdi I can program chans 1-12 for e&m wink, But unsure how to program chan 13-24

Do I need to edit the dahdi.conf file? any help appreciated

Dan

Your question makes me doubt that your understanding of a T1 is complete.

All of the “lines” in a T1 are bidirectional and all should use E&M Wink to notify the phone company of an impending outgoing call or that a call has been terminated.

If it was me, I’d set the lines up so that you dialed channel 24 first, then 23, then 22, then 21, etc. That way, your 12 incoming lines won’t be busy.

In general, I’d suggest setting the line up in one span with two groups. The first group would be channels 1 through 12 and the second group would be channels 13 through 24. After that, you can associate your outgoing trunks with the second group (followed by the first group, if all 12 of those lines get busy) and your incoming trunks can be associated with the first group.

So, group 1 will have a parameter that looks like “fxoks=1-12” and “fxsks=13-24” in the second group.

The webpage “http://www.cadvision.com/blanchas/Asterisk/ConfiguringT1LineDahdi.html” has an excellent discussion of what your options are and how to configure a fairly complicated T1 setup like yours.

I did an interesting T1 config on a four port Digium card the other day. I’ll post what my config files look like and perhaps you can interpolate what you need to do for your system. Bare in mind, this is the most complicated T1 configuration I have done to date and I worked with Digium tech support to get it to work. I think an important point is that you need to configure system.conf correctly first, then run dahdi_cfg -vvv. I am not so sure the dahdi gui bit is up to complicated configurations.

/etc/dahdi/system.conf
