Difference between CHAN SIP Device and PJSIP

Difference between PJSIP and CHAN in FreePBX 12.0.38

Hi, I just installed FreePBX 12.0.38 with asterisk 13.2.0. I noticed under Extensions there’s 2 type of SIP extensions I can add, PJSIP and CHAN and I’m not sure what is the difference between those 2.

All you need to know is that you should select CHAN SIP.

Also, you should probably be using Asterisk 11, which is very stable. Asterisk 13 is not stable (or so I’ve read).

People should choose what they want instead of following a blind statement like this. What are your reasonings?

If you have to ask the difference, it’s likely because you’re very new. If you’re new, you should avoid PJSIP and Asterisk 13 for that matter given that they are both experimental.

If you’re not sure, Asterisk 11 and ChanSIP are the correct answer, at least for now.
