Dedicated Fax Extensions

I am trying to configure Freepbx so that I can have several fax extensions, each sending the fax to different email addresses. I will have dedicated DIDs for each machine as well.

Ideally I would have a fax detecction tone play as soon as connects.

I have tried every permutation. Is this possible?

hi doug,

my question. looks to me like no one on the list knows how to handle faxes.

All of my FreePBX boxes have at least 5 dedicated fax lines (via
CAPI/ISDN) with about 20 extensions each having fax detection. I’m not
entirely sure why or where you’re having a problem, because I didn’t
find it too difficult to follow the instructions on the Wiki:
http://aussievoip.com/wiki/index.php?page=freePBX-Faxing

If you want proper dedicated fax lines, I recommend you look at HylaFax
and IAXmodem. I’ve now switched to a pure HylaFax receipt system (I find
it more stable than rx_fax). However, I still use NVFaxDetect to do
automatic fax detection on inbound DIDs for users (so that the same DID
can be used for both voice & fax).

Avi

For the dedicated fax lines, ho would I set up Freepbx so that when a call comes in, it goes directly to the fax extension which would hear that it is a fax (have have nvdetect), prefarably initiating the fax tones and then email.

Some of the settings are in ‘general’ and some in ‘inbound routes’. I am tryng to get the right combination.
Thanks
