Dead end...FreePBX 2.4 with Asterisk 1.6

Could someone please check this install_amp output and let me know if you see something weird?
I’d appreciate it…

It’s Asterisk 1.6-beta6 and FreePBX 2.4

Thanks…

your configuration looks correct from what you put up there. I don’t know if the issue is Asterisk 1.6 related or not as I have not been doing the 1.6 testing, one of the other developers has been doing that. Try putting Asterisk 1.4 or 1.2 back and see if it works with that (keeping the same manager.conf file.). If it does, it may be 1.6 related - otherwise, the above posted info doesn’t tell all or I haven’t looked at it close enough.

I am having the exact same problem with Asterisk 1.6.0-beta7.1 (compiled from source) and FreePBX 2.4.0 (installed with yum, and I install the mysql db manually as per the instructions), under CentOS 5.1.

When I run “asterisk -vvvr”, then “manager show users”, it replies with “There are no manager users.” Asterisk even finds the file /etc/asterisk/manager.conf upon “manager reload”, but it shows no users in the CLI.

The manager_custom.conf is missing so it prevent Asterisk form starting the manager.
Just type echo > /etc/asterisk/manager_custom.conf and restart asterisk.

retrieve_conf should create empty copies of all include files when it runs, specifically to deal with this issue as the Asterisk team decided that it should be an error when an include file is referenced but does not exists so just ‘bombs.’ Do we have a ‘catch 22’ issue going on, retrieve_conf not running because the manager is not there - so the file never gets created?

Exacly, the file should be include with the manager.conf in the installation package.

That may or may not have solved the problem, but it would not hurt for install_amp to create all needed missing files. It depends on Asterisk running before the install package is run anyhow, so it can just create all the missing files as a safety although I think there was something else going on.

Any Chance of reproducing the issue, and then applying the following to install_amp and re-testing to see if this resolved it. The problem is this, I think:

  1. Asterisk runs ok to get started (or install_amp wouldn’t run)
  2. All the files are applied, meaning the new manager.conf
  3. We issue a manager reload “asterisk -rx 'reload manager” which will be needed to let retrieve_conf run.

at the 3rd step, the manager will probably die because of the indicated issue. The other problem, the reload command itself may be failing because of the new syntax which may be enforced in 1.6: “module reload manager.” Both of those are addressed in the patch below.

Is there a way to reset or uninstall FreePBX with a single command? or do I have to delete all the files manualy?

Bug report #2799

This patch doesn’t add the files:
manager_additional.conf
manager_custom.conf
sip_general_custom.conf
sip_general_additional.conf
sip_registrations_custom.conf
sip_custom.conf
sip_custom_post.conf
which are mandatory as per sip.conf and manager.conf. If a file is missing, the module will not load.

I still get this error with install_amp:

Connecting to database…OK
Connecting to Asterisk manager interface…OK
Use of uninitialized value in string eq at /var/lib/asterisk/bin/retrieve_op_conf_from_mysql.pl line 415
DB Error: no such tableGenerating AMP configs…OK

and the /etc/asterisk folder lacks the 4-or-so symbolic links that it install_amp creates on good installs.

install_amp created a file named “filename.conf” (WITH the quote marks), and missed over 15 included files. I suspect there might be something wrong with the retrieve_conf script.

Roberto,
I made a few cosmetic changes but below is fundamentally the same as the other patch which seems to work fine. It results in the following:

  1. all include files that are referenced in /etc/asterisk/*.conf are generated if not present. The important one here are the manager.conf included files.
  2. a manager reload is executed.
  3. the rest of the script is run eventually running retrieve_conf, which will result in linking the sip.conf, etc. files to /etc/asterisk and then before it exits, it will generate all their include files.
When I ran it, it worked fine in that all the include files were created in this chunk of code. So if it is still failing, I need you to look closer and see why.

Right after doing install_amp, I saw that my sip.conf was gone. No symlink, no file. I had to manually create the links to …admin/modules/core/etc/* and touch the missing files to get all the conf files right. I think the symlink creation routine doesn’t work right all the time.
When all the conf files are installed correctly, FreePBX works fine, although I’ve noticed that the dialparties.agi is extremely slow in the astman->ExtenState function (about 12 second delay).

*I used the FreePBX package from the downloads section of the website: freepbx-2.4.0.tar.gz. Is there a newer release I can try?

Roberto,
others are getting it to work. As I mentioned, the patch will NOT create those sip files since the sip.conf is not present in the /etc/asterisk directory. It will create the manager.conf include files which is what is needed to make sure the manager connection works. Subsequently, retrieve_conf is run, which needs that manager connection to work. Once it runs, it will do the symlinks and then after all that you need to do a new reload at the GUI as part of the final step in the installation. If your symlinks are not happening then something else is going wrong in the next steps.

inet addr:192.168.1.108 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

NOTE: It says to update the modules by going to 192.168.1.100/admin. This is an incorrect IP as I have shown in the ipconfig above!

Any other ideas? I’d really like to get this working…

Any comments or suggestions?

Seem to be a password issue. Check them out. Also, why do you need 1.6? Lastly, I have done a few installs on debian and they were painful. Why not use CentOS?
