Convert System recordings automatically from alaw to G722 and vice versa?

Hi,
we use an system recordings as an Endpoint from an IVR (holiday announcement).
To change the recording, we use the “Link to Feature Code” feature.
Depends of which phone is used, a alaw oder G722 audio file is created, with the result that from time to time two different announcements exists. One correct, and one older. And it depends of the codec an external caller use, which announcement is played.

Is there a good way, to (automatically) create all versions of a new overwritten system recording or at least, make sure that only the newest one exist? (so that a on-demand transcoding is done)
