The /var/www/html/admin/modules/_cache directory grows over time and I’d like to clear it out periodically.
Are there any downsides to cleaning up this directory other than not having local copies of current and previously-installed versions of modules?
nope you can nuke the files inside as long as the folder permissions remain. It will simply need to download anything you request.
