Chan-SCCP-B and UseCallManager patch

Here’s one for y’all, I might actually consider being in the market for the Chan-SCCP-B module, but here’s what I need to know: Is it possible to run this ALONGSIDE the UCM patch, or would that just loop on itself and cause the two to scream at each other until they die? Reason I ask is because I’m considering a 7920 series to possibly use on my phone system to make it slightly more practical… The reason I would use the UCM patch is due to the not-so-incessant need (more rather desire) to have Cisco BLF available to use on my system.

In other words, sell me both the module AND the patch, one or the other is fine as well

Immediate edit: By “sell me”, I mean like… not financially, but like describe what they can do and their features and whatnot… please tell me you know what I mean

“Usecallmanager” patch is for SIP. Feature list: https://usecallmanager.nz/documentation-overview.html

Chan-SCCP-B is for SCCP. Feature list: Features · chan-sccp/chan-sccp Wiki · GitHub

pick the one that has the features and protocol you want.

Fair, my idea WAS that I was hoping that if I bought a 7920 series IP phone, it’d make my phone system slightly more practical to use for my family, though they didn’t seem to think it’d make it any more practical, sure they SOMETIMES text me, but sometimes they forget, or sometimes I don’t get the notification on my computer, so as a result, sometimes they just pound on the wall, which… I dunno about that one… but I guess it works… but it’s not really all that practical, and even then, they’re really vague about what they want from me… Yes, 25 and still living with my parents… Eh, not the worst ever

So I guess at this rate, it now just comes down to personal preference and otherwise whatever I decide on

The 7920 is an ancient Cisco turd, but if you really want to use it, you will have to install the SCCP driver because it does not support SIP firmware.

It also only supports 802.11b so you will have to downgrade your wifi network to support that.

Huh, that a fact? Really wishing I didn’t get rid of my CIP 270 then, it supported WiFi AND gigabit networking…

Also, having stared at USECALLMANAGER.NZ a few more times, it seems that the patch calls for being applied before Asterisk is installed, which is not viable in my case, and I see no way to patch an already live installation in the site (Will google later on, gonna go out for a bit and get some fresh air), would getting the module be easier at this rate? Or is patching a live version easier than I’m thinking?

You can build the module on a separate system, and take the chan_sip.so module file and copy from the modules folder on that system and paste it in to the target system’s module folder. Then you just load chan_sip. That is what I did for my system anyway.

Mmkay, sounds easy enough
