CDR issues

I have an Elastix 1.6 installation with all the updates and for some reason the outgoing calls are not logged in the CDR and the FreePBX reports do not show the outgoing calls. On the other hand the incoming calls and internal calls are shown correctly on the reports. I am lost as to whether it has to do something with asterisk or FreePBX or Elastix or is it a configuration I am missing. (FYI all the calls are sent out on a SIP trunk).
