do you access the asterisk manager interface from within the freepbx web gui?
also i am having difficulty running the /usr/src/AMP/apply_conf.sh command.

1 - What is your authentication mode set to in /etc/amportal.conf?

i am not quite sure what you mean. if you want i can send you the log file of my amportal.conf file.

I changed two setttings:

The lines that read AMPDBUSER= and AMPDBPASS=
user to the username and dbpass to the password.

2 - When you try an log into the web page do you get an authentication box
yes it does.

3 - Does it fail
yest it does
4 - What exact settings have you changed

thanks again for your insight.

okay never mind i got what the problem was.

the changed the line for

AMPMGUSER and AMPMGRPASS
but left the AMPDBUSER and AMPDBPASS slots the same.

now i gotta find out what in the world the ampguser and ampgrpass are used for

Those are the passwords used to log into the Asterisk Manager Interface.

thanks for your insight. i’ll try to be more clear.

the freepbx gui is what i can no longer get into.

i made some changes

just trying to secure the box by altering the freepbx gui password. now i can’t login.

You did not answer, again.

That post discusses MYSQL passwords.

If you don’t tell us what you changed how are we supposed to know?

You could have stopped the web server, changed the port, added htaccess.

Your posts are some of the most difficult to answer. You always get in over your head and then never provide sufficient information for anyone to help. You also come across as frustrated and rushed. You may want to think about these things so you can get more out of the community.

What is an “admin password for the web server” I don’t know what that means.

What steps did you take to secure the server?

Is the web page asking for authentication and you can’t get past that or does it time out indicating that the web server is either not running or running on a port other than your are expecting?

i just trying to change the admin password for webserver but i guess you need to change it in more then one place. and now i cant log in. the server boots, fine, i can make and receive calls…
