Can not dial extensions after restore from backup

To xfer our pbx to new hardware a backup and restore was performed.

After the restore the extensions could not be dialed. However calls which led to a recorded message worked fine.

After some searching tried with one extension removing and re-adding it. This then rendered that extension callable. Is there a way to avoid having to do this for more than 100+ extensions ?

It feels like bug - but would require more testing to confirm. Log of a failed call is shown below. Looks like the extensions are returning a state “NOANSWER” immediately.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

It is likely you lost your asterisk sqlite3 database, you could perhaps copy it from the old machine /var/lib/asterisk/astdb.sqlite3 to a the new machine with asterisk stopped or regenerate it by rather tediously editing but not changing anything on each extension , space then backspace at the end of a convenient field, and saving , reload after they have all been ‘unmodified’

I agree with @dicko, there are missing astdb entries. What happens if you edit and resubmit an extension without making any changes?

Will try it out as soon as I can. For now thanks to your hints a quick query on the astdb shows a significant difference between an extension which does not work and one that was recreated so I am very hopeful.

If the “Change without changing” thing works, you could do a Builk Handler “update” of the extensions and then Apply Config. That should generate all of the extensions again (I think).

Big thanks to everyone. Used the bulk handler. Exported and re-imported the list. And now the extensions work.

Discovered the EPM bulk export/import - which is also a nice feature. Can keep a safe copy of the extensions and their mappings to phones.
