Hi, I will make this brief, I am very new to linux, I have FreePBX running on my P4, no problems. I have to extensions configure. I want to run GSM and G729 and I have been searching fo a week on how to install the codecs. Can some one give me a hand with this ?

yu can buy your licence from digium … go to the site pay your 10 dollars,
get licence and instructions how to do it.

you can get a free copy for your hardware at :

read the readme file

downloaded the codec and copy it to /usr/lib/asterisk/modules

trust yu understand that this is where to look for the .so file.
http://kvin.lv/pub/Linux/Asterisk/built-for-asterisk-1.2/

look for the file that matches your cpu
download it
copy it to the proper directory
restart your box
check asterisk and make sure the codec is installed and functional

Well I do not think u put much effort into any searching…
did u purchased the G729 codec???

just a quick installing g729 in google will return the answer
