Call recordings broken when using G729 codec

I’m on the latest version of FreePBX. Only G729 codec is enabled/allowed in FreePBX advanced settings as well as in the settings of the soft phone in using. Call connects just fine and there is nothing wrong with the audio. The “sip show channels” also show that G729 is being used.

However, the call recordings are unplayable within the browser as well as when downloaded in wav, gsm, g729 format. I tried all audio recoding formats but to no avail.

The wav format doesn’t play and file doesn’t play when downloaded. The g729 format is also unplayable within the browser and downloading the file is always 44 kb and is unplayable. Whereas, the gsm format is also not playable within the browser and always produces 0 kb files.

Any help regarding this issue would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

You need to install and licence the codec module. (I think the distribution may install it, but it will still need licensing.)

Recording (with MixMonitor) requires transcoding to linear format, which requires a properly licensed codec.
