Business adoption or hobby project?

are there may people out there using Fpbx in a for profit business or are the majority hobbyist ?

just trying to get some idea of the adoption rate and in what setting

i also have been using it in businesses

so far none larger than a 30 phone installation

i would like to ensure the long term viability of the code for business use and am wondering how others feel about that

can it go on forever as it stands today ? do you ever see some extended version with some benefits for business ? i mean i would be more than happpy to sign up for somehing quarterly or yearly if i knew it was going to help extend the base offering and ensure that the developers driving it forward continue to do so and are able to put food on the table; of course i would also want some tailored for busniess benefits in exchange …

i think a business slant is tilted in a different direction from a hobbyist home install ( nothing against hobbyist or tinkering at home - i do it myself ) Businesses live and die with communications … a large majority of which is still voice

i’ll get off the soapbox ,
later

I can’t really speak for the general public, but my company makes a few bucks from FreePBX/Asterisk installs. Our typical customer is the SMB who wants more functionality from their system. We use Asterisk as a PBX replacement for them.

On the flip side of that, I use Asterisk in my home for all my calls.
