BLF over a VPN

We have a two on prem servers set up with a VPN setup between them to allow for extension dialing and call transfer. One thing we have noticed is that the BLF keys are lighting up to indicate the state of any of the endpoints across the VPN. (person in build A cannot see the device state of person in building B)

Should this work or will it not given the setup?

Never mind, I figured out the issue.
