BLF (AKA Buddy Watch) Lines on Second Registration Server

Hi All. Looking for some assistance with one that has me stumped. We have two FreePBX distros running on two physically separate servers. One server has traditional PRIs terminated on it and was where the primary line on a Polycom 670 was configured from. We have stood up the second server which is using a SIP Trunk. We have changed the primary line to be that of the SIP Trunk for testing and proof of concept purposes and moved the original line to the 3rd line on the Polycom. Within FreePBX, we had configured a Buddy Watch List for one particular phone where all of the extensions being watched are on the original FreePBX server with the PRIs. Now that we have moved the extension from the SIP Trunk FreePBX Server to be the primary on the Polycom, the Buddy Watch List is not working. We changed the primary line/extension on the phone so that when an outbound call is made, it automatically uses the SIP Trunk line and not the PRI line.

The Polycom is registered to both servers and working, however, just the BLF is not working as long as the SIP Trunk line is the primary line on the Polycom. Is there a way to still keep the SIP Trunk line as the primary line on the Polycom but still have BLF working?

I apologize in advance if I am not explaining this correctly or if I am not providing enough detail; brain not firing on all cylinders right now. Any help/assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In my experience the Polycoms can only do BLF for one registration, and they default to the primary registration. You can change it to the secondary registration and do BLF for extensions on the server of the secondary registration. I’m not sure how you would set it up in EndPoint Manager (we use our own provisioning), but if you look in the config file for that phone and find the section. In there, you should have a line that says:

attendant.reg=“1”

If you change the “1” to “2” then the Polycom will use the server for the second registration for BLF subscriptions.
