Backup/restore options

Hi.

I’m playing with a Stable-5.211.65/Release Date-2014/FreePBX 2.11, Linux 6.5/Asterisk 1.8 or 11 (using 11).

With previous versions of the FreePBX Distro, I used Mondo to create bootable flash drives for backup purposes. I tried getting Mondo working on this release, I finally got a bootable flash drive but it didn’t restore on my new hardware.

So I started investigating the backup options built into FreePBX, and did a full backup onto an FTP server and was surprised to find a 1.1-GB file when I was done. I didn’t realize this would include the O/S.

So is there a handy way to restore this backup to a different box, if need be?

Any pointers on what you guys are doing to protect yourselves from a full metal panic (hardware crash) would be helpful.

The Backup and Restore module does NOT backup the Operating System. With that said you can set what items get backed up. If you haven’t already checked out the user guide, I highly recommend you check it out.
