Backup and Restore

A year ago, I installed AsteriskNow 1.7 to our VOIP server. We were having troubles with it finding our Sangoma cards, so we did a manual config. A year later, and we decided to upgrade to AsteriskNow 2.0.2. It still had the issue with finding the cards. So we decided to switch to FreePBX Distro 1.812.210.57. This Distro found the cards. No compilation necessary. WOOT!

However, we are having troubles restoring the FreePBX backup from the AsteriskNow 1.7 server. We tried to restore in FreePBX Distro and suddenly the GUI was the old one and the screen was will filled with characters.

Any ideas why and how to fix this?

Can we restore via command line?

Mahalo,

You can not backup and restore between FreePBX versions. It all has to be done on the same version.

Thanks for the info, Tony.

Were you trying to go between 2.9 and 2.10

We had upgraded our old server to freepbx 2.10, but it was running asteriskNOW. So we were going from freepbx 2.10 to freepbx 2.10. The difference being that the old server had asteriskNOW 1.7 and the new server had the entire Freepbx distro.

Ya that will be tough to do. It can be done but has to have lots of cleanup done afterwards.

They set things up in FreePBX different than we do

NP. Luckily, it was just a testing server and no major inputs had been done, so we are cool to start from scratch.

Thanks for your help!

You can use the bulk import to move the extensions and then use the backup tool for just the recordings and greetings.

This minimizes what you have to load by hand.
