Authentication Problems

Good day,

I will give as much information as possible. Here we go.

From initial freepbx installation, freepbx could not correctly pick up the asterisk server status on the dashboard. As it was displaying “ERROR” message that “asterisk is not running, this is a critical service”.

I managed to get freepbx upgraded until and I was prompted to change the default password, which i did and ran into an authentication problem.

I receive the following message I try to reload freepbx gui:
exit: 1
Tue, 11 Oct 2011 13:35:36 +0200 - Failed to login.
[FATAL] Unable to connect to Asterisk Manager from /var/lib/asterisk/bin/retrieve_conf, aborting

And the asterisk logs, I get the following message:
[Oct 11 13:23:25] VERBOSE[5797] manager.c: == Connect attempt from ‘’ unable to authenticate
[Oct 11 13:23:26] NOTICE[5801] manager.c: failed to pass IP ACL as ‘admin’
[Oct 11 13:23:26] NOTICE[5801] manager.c: failed to authenticate as ‘admin’

I appreciate your input.

I checked to see if there are similar manager.conf files and I found two files manager.conf.bak and manager.conf.2.8.0.bak, which I deleted and voila the issue is resolved.

How is it possible that similar named files affect freepbx?
